As a student at Canadian International School of Hong Kong, you are part of a community that strives for academic excellence in all areas including the fine and performing arts. As a school, we are proud to enhance our students’ arts education with the Leo Lee Arts Centre; a facility completely dedicated to music, drama, dance and visual arts.
Positioned within our school campus, overlooking the Aberdeen waterfront, the LLAC complex comprises of eight spacious multi-purpose art, drama and music rooms, and a 604-seat masterpiece auditorium which features a retractable solid Canadian maple wood stage with an orchestra pit, as well as state-of-the-art sound, lighting and technical equipment including a cinema-sized screen and projection system.
For over 10 years, students from Early Years 1 to Grade 12 have made full use of all rooms and the auditorium. The extensive and expansive facilities allow for an atmosphere in which individual and creative expression is allowed to thrive. Students are encouraged to participate in all areas of the arts, and our budding musicians, actors and artists have worked hard to produce stunning plays, concerts and artwork which is proudly displayed throughout the facility.
Highlights during the school year include Winter Concerts, Chinese New Years Concerts, Evening of the Arts productions, musicals, choral and dramatic theatre performances, Chinese Dance productions, visual arts gallery displays and showcases, and much more. Training seminars and workshops are presented to CDNIS staff and faculty on a regular basis, and Upper School students attend regular information seminars with world-renowned universities.
Since its opening in May 2008, the Leo Lee Arts Centre has hosted countless events and performances in many areas of this stunning venue. From catered receptions, student performances, and conferences in the entrance foyer and balcony area, to music and dramatic performances, meetings, training workshops, school assemblies and awards events onstage, this arts centre is truly living up to its vision of being a vital support to the CDNIS family and beyond.
CDNIS welcomes the use of the LLAC and other facilities by our community and any organizations that may serve and support it. School and school-sponsored events and activities have priority over non-school related events during school year.
