Early Years Schedules

Alternate Days - Early Childhood
The Early Years will provide families with a suggested schedule each week along with a daily and weekly grid of activities and resources to support families at home. The EAs will film the ‘live’ sessions that are occurring at school and upload them to Seesaw for those students who are attending at home. Students who are attending on campus will receive the normally planned curriculum and structures.

Outdoor School: Teachers/EAs meet groups (size of groups dependent on government restrictions at the time) of students at a designated spot for mini lessons in nature/forest/beach. (Aberdeen park, South Bay etc). Exact format tbc. Activities will target learning outcomes from the weekly grid.

“Activities in outdoor spaces that are designed to inspire investigation with bodies, senses and minds improve children’s physical health and emotional well-being and enhance their capabilities for self-regulation, creative problem-solving, and communication. Children’s self-discipline, self-awareness and ability to focus also improve, as does their development of social skills such as cooperation and flexibility.” (Louv, 2008, cited in ‘How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years’, 2014)

During inclement weather, Fridays will be used for teachers and EAs to host Zoom sessions with small groups of students according to their likes and interests, shared passions etc, to learn more about each other, family, friends, pets, hobbies, sports etc. Show and tell sessions will also be an option at this time. Groups will be subject to change, as friendships and shared interests evolve. Students may also continue to choose engagements from the weekly learning grid/menu on wet weather.
