CDNIS in the News

As we begin commemorating our 30th anniversary by celebrating the past and inspiring the future, Head of School Dr. Jane Camblin discusses the strategic direction of the school and how our environmental studies and sustainability initiatives are setting CDNIS apart in the latest issue of Expat Parent magazine, while Lower School Principal Mr. Lief Erickson shares details with Expat Living magazine about our new bilingual programme starting in August 2022.


Term 1 ASA and Timba Swim: Registration Closes today @ 4pm

A reminder that registration for Term 1 ASAs closes today at 4pm. Take a moment to view the Term 1 ASA brochure. Registration is done via the ASA website. Activities will run from Tuesday, October 19 until Wednesday, December 15. Please click here to find the late bus schedule and click here if you wish to register your Grade 4/5 child as an independent walker. For general ASA enquiries please email activities@cdnis.edu.hk, for swimming enquiries email timbaswim@cdnis.edu.hk.


Attention: Student Health and Travel Declaration Form

As part of our ongoing health and safety measures in preparation for the resumption of classes on campus after the Mid-Term Break, parents must complete the Student Health and Travel Declaration Form to indicate the health and travel history of their child. Parents will receive an email to their @CDNIS account with a link to the form later today (Monday, October 11). Please complete one form per student to indicate the current health and travel history of your child before Thursday, October 14 @ 10am. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.


No School - Mid-Term Break and PLD

Just a reminder there is no school for students from Monday, October 11 to Monday, October 18 (Mid-Term Break and Professional Learning Day). Enjoy your break and we look forward to welcoming students back next week.


Yearbook Cover Contest

The Yearbook Club is holding a schoolwide competition for the 2022 yearbook cover. The theme this year is "Year of Tiger". Deadline to submit your entry is Monday, December 13. More information can be found by clicking here. Digital entries can be uploaded here while hard copies can be dropped off at the main office. Remember to include your full name and homeroom on your entry.


EDB Student Grant Forms

Pre-printed EDB student grant forms have been distributed to all students. Parents are asked to check the appropriate boxes and sign the form before returning it to the school. LS students may pass their forms to their homeroom teachers and US students are asked to drop forms off in the main office. Parents have until Friday, October 22 to return the forms to the school. Forms cannot be accepted via email or fax. Further details are available on the EDB website, while parents may also find this video and list of bank codes useful.


Halloween

No one does Halloween like CDNIS. This year, we will celebrate Halloween on Friday, October 29. All students are encouraged to come to school in a costume as long as it does not prevent them from participating in regular school activities. Lots of fun activities are being planned for this year from costume competitions to special Halloween treats. Watch this space for more details after Mid-Term Break.


Seasonal Influenza Vaccination

The Seasonal Influenza Vaccination for LS and US students will be held on Friday, November 12. Reminders will be sent to all parents who enrolled their child(ren) for this vaccination programme closer to the date. If you have any questions, please contact the school nurse.


2021/22 Second Term Tuition Fee Deadline

Second term tuition fees for the 2021/22 school year are due on Friday, October 29, 2021. Invoices were emailed to CDNIS parent email accounts last week. Should you have any inquiries, please contact our Finance Department.


Parent Liaison Committee

The Parent Liaison Committee (PLC) is a multi-stakeholder Committee, comprised of Governors, Parents, and School Administrators. The PLC serves as a communication channel between parents and the Board of Governors. To contact the PLC, please send them an email.


Campus Visitor Policy

CDNIS has updated its policy for visitors who are invited onto campus. If you are invited to attend a meeting or another event on campus, please note that you will now need to complete the Visitor Health and Travel Declaration Form and provide proof of vaccination. If you are not fully vaccinated, proof of a COVID-negative test taken within 48 hours prior to arrival on campus will need to be shown before entry to campus will be permitted. The test must be a nasal and throat swab for COVID-19 nucleic acid test that is government approved. Self-testing kits are not acceptable.

Lower School News

Updated Calendar

As per the updated 2021/2022 school calendar, the PLD originally scheduled for January 3, 2022 is now a regular school day. This will be a Day 3 for the Lower School. Please visit the 2021-2022 LS Day 1-6 calendar for calendar dates.


74th Hong Kong School Music Festival

Prep to Grade 5 students interested in participating in the 74th Hong Kong School Music Festival 2022 may register using this google form no later than Monday, October 18. Information can be found by visiting the HKSMSA website. Once the form has been completed, please send a cheque payment for the appropriate amount payable to "The Canadian International School of Hong Kong Limited" to the 9/F Main Office by Monday, October 18 @ 4pm. Please include the student's name, homeroom and "music festival" on the back of the cheque. Late submissions will NOT be included.


Lunch Ordering: Prep to Grade 4

Students may bring a packed lunch from home or enjoy a purchased meal from our cafeteria. Prep to Grade 2 students must pre-order, while Grade 3-4 students can choose on the day and Grade 5 students may purchase their lunches on a daily basis. Please take a moment to view the Lower School Menu for October 19-December 16. To place your order, please use the Q2 Order Form. Both the menu and order form are also available behind the Parent Portal. If you have any unused credit from the previous term, please email your order form (without payment) to catering@cdnis.edu.hk. Any questions, please contact Terrance Lai.

CISPA

Join CISPA on Facebook

The CISPA Pinboard on Facebook is a place to meet other parents, share information about the school, and buy/sell second hand items. To join, you must answer the member question, so please take a moment to check your message folder and reply.


Used Uniform/Book Sale

CISPA will host a used uniform/book sale on Saturday, October 23 from 9am-12noon in the LLAC roundabout. As part of the school's ongoing health and safety measures, visitors to this event will be asked to wear a mask at all times and socially distance themselves from others. Visitors will be restricted to the roundabout and will not be allowed to enter the building. Uniforms cost $20/item and books will start at $10.
