STEM Competition Winners

Congratulations to Grade 9 students Anna, Bhoomi and Jaeyun, and Grade 10 students Angel, Bo Bo and Natalie who impressed the judges at a recent STEM Competition featuring competitors from across the city. Participants were tasked with using their graphing calculators to code. Angel, Bo Bo and Nathalie grabbed 1st place and the Most Innovative Code Award. Congratulations to both teams on a job well done!


CDNIS Changemaker Pitch at the UN

For the very first time, CDNIS will be represented at the United Nations! Grade 12 student, Bella, changemaker and UNITAR (United Nations Institute for Training and Research) Youth Ambassador will be pitching her proposal at 2:30pm, Saturday November 27. Her pitch aims to expand CDNIS’ successful Global Goals Clubs (GGC) Council globally and empower youths worldwide in becoming changemakers. The pitch will be only 7 minutes long, followed by a quick vote on Slido. Register on this link to tune into Bella’s 7-minute pitch, and vote for her for the #1 Impact Prize!


30th Anniversary Trivial Pursuit - Contest Closes on Friday

Take part in our 30th Anniversary Trivial Pursuit game and win some great Apple prizes. Competition is open to all current students. Scan the QR code or download the app – designed by students Hugh, Grade 10 and Thomas, Grade 11 – and answer 10 randomly selected questions correctly for your chance to win. Remember, you can only play once. Check out the Anniversary Walk on the 9/F for details. Contest ends November 26.


This Week: Habitat for Humanity's Paint Your Tote Bag

Thank you CDNIS for your generosity and support of our Habitat for Humanity fund-raising Paint Your Tote Event which is being held this week.  If you missed the sign-up sheet it is still not too late to have your child participate as you can still pay in cash and enrol on the day. Winter Holiday Camp: Registration Now Open

Registration for the Winter Holiday Camp is now open via the online registration system for students in EY2 and up! Sign up your little elves for Middle School Multi Sport, Gymnastics, Football, Dance Camp, Jewellery Making or our newest activity Multi Mandarin and more. Courses run from December 20 - 24. Email activities@cdnis.edu.hk for more information.


After-School Activities: Session 2 Registration

Session 2 sign up is coming your way later this month. Can't decide on an ASA for your child? Please email activities@cdnis.edu.hk for a trial lesson. Please note trial lessons are limited and available with select providers.


Timberwolves Online Boutique

The Timberwolves online boutique orders have arrived and can be collected from the 3/F Athletics Office. If you missed out on ordering items last time, the online boutique is open now for new orders. Place your order today! Items will be delivered to the school before the CNY holiday.


Book Fair

The Book Fair is back! It will be in the Library from November 29 - December 3. Prep - Grade 5 will visit the fair during their library time. Language A classes will also visit with their Chinese class. Grades 6-8 may also visit. Books start at $20. Unfortunately, due ot Covid-19, only students may visit the Book Fair this year.


Changing Buses

If there are any changes to your child's regular bus schedule, please let us know. If your child needs to switch buses, get picked-up/dropped off from a different location or needs no bus service on a particular day, please email KCM and your child's homeroom teacher and EA at least three working days in advance. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.


Shake Shack

As a special alternative to our regular menu, Shake Shack is offering a limited menu this week for students in Grades 5-12. TYs parents were asked to complete a google form, while students in Grades 9-12 could complete the form themselves if they were interested in purchasing Shake Shack on their designated day. Maxim's will continue to offer a number of other options including their Comfort Food, Noodle Bar and Salad Bar stations all week, while students may also bring their lunch from home.


Alumni Holiday Reception is Back - Save the Date!

After a year-long hiatus, we are excited to share that one of our most well attended alumni events is back. Please tell your alumni children to hold December 8 from 7-9pm in their diaries. This year's event will be an exclusive booking at ThinkWine, one of Hong Kong's leading wine bars and boutique venues located just off Hollywood Rd. ThinkWine is also CDNIS parent owned and operated. Hope to see many of our alumni there!


Supporting Home of Love

This holiday season, CDNIS is once again proud to support Home of Love. We are collecting donated items underneath our Christmas tree in the 9/F to be distributed to those sleeping rough in the Sham Shui Po district. Items requested include: salt & sugar, milo, 3 in 1 coffee/tea, full cream milk powder, milk powder (for adults and seniors) and packaged drinks (250ml), rice, biscuits and chocolates, large towels for adults (new). baby diapers, formula and wipes, masks and sanitiser. You can start donating items from Monday, December 6 until Wednesday, December 15.


School Uniform

Please be reminded that as the weather becomes cooler, students are expected to wear CDNIS-issued sweaters/jumpers/school jackets. Students will be asked to remove non-CDNIS issued clothing worn between 7:50am-3:55pm. Items can be purchased online with the Uniform Shop. Details are also available in the Parent Portal.


Parent Liaison Committee

The Parent Liaison Committee (PLC) is a multi-stakeholder Committee, comprised of Governors, Parents, and School Administrators. The PLC serves as a communication channel between parents and the Board of Governors. To contact the PLC, please send them an email.

House Crest Competition

It's time to update our House Logos! The 30th Anniversary Committee is having a competition to find ideas for new house crests. Lower School Students can get involved. More information can be found here.


Dress Down Day

Friday, November 26 is our next Dress Down Day. Wear something to show where you are from! Don't forget your $20 for Bear House's charity - Room to Read.


Student Council Bear House Book Donation Drive

Student Council are gratefully accepting donations of gently loved books for their Bear House Book Donation Drive. These books will go to students in low income areas in Hong Kong who can't afford to buy English books. Put your books in the CISPA book bin outside the 9/F during November.

Grade 9 and 10 Experience Week - Parent Information Sessions

Please join Mr Schulte, Mr Douglas and a representative from Outward Bound Hong Kong to learn about the Grade 9 and 10 Experience Week programmes, scheduled for February 8-11 (Grade 10) and March 29-April 1 (Grade 9). Grade 9-12 Report Cards

Grade 9-12 report cards (including MYP, DB, and OSSD versions) will be available to parents via the Parent Portal from Thursday, November 25 at 3pm.


Grade 9-12 Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences

Grade 9-12 PTSCs will run on December 2 and 3. Parents invited to interview by teachers (via the report cards) will have priority booking starting on November 25; all parents will be able to make bookings starting on November 29. Appointments will be for 13-minute conferences and students should also participate. The available timings are: Thursday, December 2: 2:30pm - 7pm and Friday, December 3: 9am - 5pm.


Assessment in MYP

HPE Aquatics Units in Grades 6 and 8

Being confident and competent in water is an important life skill for health, safety and enjoyment. At CDNIS we expect all students to take part in our aquatic based units of inquiry and be proficient swimmers.. Grades 6 and 8 will start their equatics based units November 29 and continue through December and January. Please see our HPE site for more information. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher.


Dress Down Day

Friday, November 26 is our next Dress Down Day. The theme is Diversity and Inclusion Day for Grades 6 - 12. Wear Rainbow colours to show your support. Don't forget your $20 for The Alliance charity.


Grade 9-12 Practice Virtual Day on December 2

On Thursday, December 2, Grades 9-12 will run a practice Virtual Day. Students will not come to school and will connect to their block 1-3 classes using remote learning. This will allow teachers and students to practice the routines of teaching and learning online in the event of an unexpected school closure, and allow an earlier start to PTSCs on that day, creating more interview slots for parents. Note that, per the school calendar, there are no Grade 9-12 classes on Friday, December 3. Students should use this time to join their parents in conferencing with teachers.
