School Photos

School photos for children in EY1 to Grade 10 will take place September 20, 21, 23 and 24. Lower School homeroom teachers will let their homeroom parents know what day their class photos will be taken, while Upper School homeroom teachers will share the date with their students. Due to 3WLC, Prep to Grade 5 students will have their photos scheduled on September 20 or 21. Grade 11 and 12 students had their photos taken in August.

Important: Accessing Curriculum Events on Zoom

For security reasons, all Curriculum Events held on Zoom can only be accessed using the parent @CDNIS email accounts. Please make sure your Zoom account is set up before an online event begins. On Wednesday, September 1, Grade 9-12 parents are encouraged to attend a Zoom test session between 8:30am-3:30pm so they can confirm their Zoom accounts are set up correctly before Curriculum Night on September 2. Service Expanded: Shuttle Bus Service

The school has expanded its shuttle bus service and is now offering the Timberwolves Sports Shuttle for Upper School students who need to be at school for a sports tryout/practice. The shuttle buses depart from the Wong Chuk Hang MTR station as follows:

  • 7:05am for Grade 6-12 students attending their sports tryout/practice (Tuesday-Friday ONLY)
  • 7:25am for Prep to Grade 5 students
  • 8:20am for Grade 6-12 students

​In the afternoon, shuttle buses will arrive at WCH at:

  • 2:35pm for Lower School (departs school at 2:30pm from the 7/F) (Prep to Grade 3 students must ride with an older sibling, cousin, older friend with approval from the Lower School Principal)
  • 4:15pm for Upper School (departs school at 4:10pm from the 7/F)

Please note the afternoon times are estimates and will be amended depending on traffic conditions. Students MUST pre-register to use the shuttle bus service via the KCM website. Take a moment to learn more about our bussing programme.

Changing School Buses in the PM

Prep to Grade 12 students registered for the school bus service may switch buses to accommodate after-school activities. Parents must fill in CDNIS 2021/2022 - Dismissal Bus Change Request Form. Each bus change requires one form. This form is now available behind the Parent Portal.

Updated 2/F Entrance Arrival and Dismissal Times

The 2/F entrance will be open for students and staff to enter/exit the campus at the following times. Lower School: arrival from 7:10am-7:45am and dismissal from 2:20pm-3pm. Upper School: arrival from 8:10am-8:55am and dismissal from 3:50pm-5:20pm. A reminder that US students must tap their student card to use this entrance.

Daily Temperature Check in Parent Portal

In accordance with EDB/CHP guidelines, parents are asked to enter their child’s temperature in the Parent Portal each day before they depart to school. Here are some instructions on how to do this or click here to see how to add the Parent Portal shortcut to your iPhone.

Reporting Student Absences in Parent Portal

If your child will be absent from school, please let the school know via the absence form in the Parent Portal. Parents can access the Parent Portal via the link on the top right corner of the school website or the CDNIS app. We would appreciate it if parents could inform the school of their child's absence before 8am (Lower School) and 9am (Upper School). Parent Portal: New Items

Some of the most frequently asked about items can now be found behind the Parent Portal: Cafeteria, Uniforms, Replacement Student Card and Reference Request. Click on the tabs under "My Household" to learn more. If you have feedback regarding the Parent Portal, or need to report a problem, please let us know and we will look into the issue as soon as possible.

Nurse's Office: Attention Prep, Grade 1, 5 and 6 Parents: DTaP and IPV Vaccines

The immunization programme for Prep and Grade 1 and Grades 5 and 6 will start next month. The DTaP+IPV vaccines for Prep and Grade 1 students is scheduled to take place on Monday, September 13 and on Tuesday, September 14 for Grades 5 and 6 students in the LLAC Lobby. Immunization forms were sent home with your children on Friday. Please return these forms to your child's homeroom teacher by Friday, September 3. If your child is joining the programme, please do not forget to attach your child's immunization record. Contact the school nurse with any questions.

Nurse's Office: Free Seasonal Flu Vaccine

CDNIS will host two seasonal flu vaccine clinics on campus for all interested students. EY students may attend on Saturday, October 9, while the clinic for Prep to Grade 12 students will be set up on Friday, November 12. The school nurse will communicate further details closer to the dates.


The cafeteria menus and order forms can now be found behind the Parent Portal. Grade 5-8 students may use an Octopus card when making purchases in the cafeterias. Grade 9-12 students may also use other payment methods on a mobile phone and can also scan the 12/F cafeteria QR code or the 6/F cafeteria QR code and place a mobile order. These QR codes show what is available on the day and the price

30th Anniversary: Polo Shirts

In celebration of our 30th Anniversary, we are releasing our first piece of commemorative merchandise in conjunction with the Athletics Department. Check out our limited edition polo shirt on the Timberwolves Online Boutique. Available in men's, women's and junior sizes. Orders must be received by Friday, September 3 at 9am. Items will be delivered to the school after the Mid-Term Break.

Campus Visitor Policy

CDNIS has updated its policy for visitors who are invited onto campus. If you are invited to attend a meeting or another event on campus, please note that you will now need to complete the Visitor Health and Travel Declaration Form and provide proof of vaccination. If you are not fully vaccinated, proof of a COVID-negative test taken within 48 hours prior to arrival on campus will need to be shown before entry to campus will be permitted. The test must be a nasal and throat swab for COVID-19 nucleic acid test that is government approved. Self-testing kits are not acceptable.

Starts September 1: MTR Student Travel Scheme

Eligible students (aged 12 and above) can use the MTR online platform to renew the “Student Status” on their Personalized Octopus starting Wednesday, September 1, 2021. This video explains the process and further details are on the the MTR website.

Lower School News

Prep to Grade 5 Curriculum Night

We will once again host our Lower School Curriculum Night remotely this year. This event will be for families with children in Prep to Grade 5 and will take place on Tuesday, September 7 from 4:45pm–8pm. Further details were shared in the email from Lower School Principal Mr Lief Erickson last week. Zoom links for each session will be shared this week. In order to ensure that your questions are answered during this session, please take a moment to provide us with your questions about our curriculum in this form.

Measurement of Academic Progress (MAP)

The Measurement of Academic Progress (MAP) will be administered to students in Grades 3–5 this week. If you are new to MAP, there are two ways to learn more about what MAP is and how we use it here at CDNIS. The first is this brief overview for parents from NWEA, the people who created MAP. The second is by attending our parent Zoom session on Wednesday, September 15 from 8:30am to 9:15am. Meeting ID: 993 9194 0729 and passcode: 200776. There is no preparation necessary for the MAP assessment. If you would like to support your child, please encourage them to just do their best, make sure they have a good night’s sleep, and a healthy breakfast in the morning.

Nurse's Office: Student Health and Dental Programme

On Friday, children in Prep to Grade 5 should have brought home details regarding the Student Health Service and School Dental Care Service for the 2021/2022 school year. If you'd like to enrol your child in this programme, please return the signed forms to your child's homeroom teacher by Friday, September 3. Contact the school nurse if you have any questions.

3-Way Learning Conversations

We will host our Prep to Grade 5 3-Way Learning Conversations on Thursday, September 23 and Friday, September 24 via Zoom. Prep to Grade 5 students will not attend school on these two days. Students in EY1 and EY2 will follow their school schedule as normal. For more information and sign-up details, please click this link.

Lower School Calendar

Due to the Halloween celebration on Friday, October 29, this will be a regular school day (Day 3). Therefore all days thereafter have also been changed. Please visit the 2021/2022 Lower School Calendar for calendar dates.

Upper School News

Grade 12 University Parent Information Session

The Guidance Department will host a Grade 12 University Parent Information session on Tuesday, August 31 starting at 4:30pm via Zoom. A link for the session will be emailed to all Grade 12 parents @CDNIS email accounts. A recording of the session will be sent to all Grade 12 parents following the session for those unable to attend.

Grade 9-12 Curriculum Night

Parents with students in Grades 9 - 12 are invited to join us via Zoom on Thursday, September 2 from 6:15pm - 8:30pm for our annual Curriculum Night. The event allows parents to follow their child's rotating schedule, joining ten-minute presentations by each of their teachers.  The teachers will emphasize the curricular goals of each course and highlight the key themes, expectations, and assessments.

You will receive an email this week which will contain the schedule and links to all relevant presentations, along with information on a practice Zoom session on Wednesday, September 1. This practice session is important for parents who need to confirm they can access Zoom using their @CDNIS email accounts. Please note that you must sign into Zoom using your CDNIS parent email address in order to join the curriculum sessions.

Nurse's Office: Covid-19 Vaccination Programme: Same-Day Tickets

Starting last week on Thursday, August 26, Same-Day Tickets are being distributed to eligible students at 24 Community Vaccination Centres (CVCs) under the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme. The minimum age for receiving the BioNTech vaccine is 12, and that for receiving the Sinovac vaccine is 18. Please consider this privilege if you have not had your vaccine, and that you may have this done with your child(ren) now.

Timberwolves Sports Shuttle

As some practices run from 7:15am-8:15am, the school is providing a free Sports Shuttle from the WCH MTR (Exit A2) departing at 7:05am Tuesday to Friday. Upper School bus students should not take Lower School buses as there is no guarantee buses will arrive in time for 7:15am practices. Students travelling by private vehicle, taxi or Uber must still use the Sports Shuttle as they are not allowed to be dropped off at school for morning practices. Sign up for the Sports Shuttle here.

Parenting Teenagers Course

Unable to relate to your teenager? Trying to build a more positive relationship with them? For 10 weeks, guidance counsellors Erica Saephan and Timothy Woo will facilitate this course. This is aimed at G6-12 parents. The cost is $300. All sessions are from 9am to 11am, with the first online session on Monday, September 16. For more details and to register, click here.
