Introducing Out Of Season Sports Clubs

A new initiative in 2017 is the out of season sports (OOSS) clubs. These are designed to help prepare students for the in season sports teams and/or to provide more time to enjoy sporting opportunities. These clubs are open to all US students and to LS students by invitation. Season 1: Badminton Club, Mondays 5pm-6:30pm; Basketball Club, Fridays 6:20am-7:30am. Clubs have started and students need to register and pay for the season before they start. In Season 2 we plan to offer volleyball and badminton and in Season 3 volleyball and basketball clubs. For more information contact James Lovegrove.

New Timberwolves Sports Starting Next Week

We have had great support for the new Timberwolves sports: sailing, rowing and yoga. Sailing and rowing are Upper School sports in Season 1. We hope to offer a sailing programme for Lower School Student in 2018. Our sailing and rowing trial sessions proved to be very popular and introduced a number of new students to these sports. Here are some photos of the sessions.  For more information about any of our sports programmes, contact the Athletics Department

The initial roll out of new uniforms is April 2018 with full changeover starting in August 2019. Click here to see the timeline for the Uniform rollout.

Live Streaming Lower School Assemblies

There is no substitute for attending a school performance in person, but live streaming is a powerful means of sharing student learning, fostering parental engagement, and building community spirit. Based on positive feedback from our trial in 2016, the Lower School will once again live stream the Friday grade-level assemblies from the Alan Dick Forum via the schools' secure, password-protected Lower School Ustream channel. This will allow distant family to enjoy assemblies, and students can revisit their performance for reflection and feedback. Please respect that these live streams are for our school community to view on our Ustream channel only, and not linked or posted to any other public or private social media by anyone. Logon information will be provided by a separate email directly to parents through the CDNIS email address.

Student Uniforms

Please be reminded that if students do not have PE in their schedule, they must be in school uniform that day. If they have an activity-oriented ASA on a day when they do not have PE, they will need to change after school for the ASA.

Delivering Lunches

We have noted a large number of parents and helpers delivering student lunches to cubbies during the school day. Please ensure that students bring their lunches with them in the morning, to reduce distraction in our hallways which are often used for learning.

What Colour Shoes Should My Child Wear?

Please note the Uniform Policy on pages 50-52 of the Parent Handbook. Students are expected to wear shoes that are at least 50% black. When in PE uniform, students can wear shoes of any colour.

Yoga for Lower School Students

Grade 4-6 students have the opportunity to join a yoga class on a Wednesday afternoon as part of our Timberwolves Season 1 Sports Programme. Yoga is a fantastic opportunity for students to relax, stretch and find balance and wellbeing in their lives from a young age. Our wonderful CDNIS staff member Ms. Rebecca Tupling leads these sessions from 2:45-3:30pm in the Level 4 Dance studio. Please email her to register.
