Save the Date: Christmas Cheer with Senior Admin

CDNIS Monopoly

Get your limited edition CDNIS Monopoly Game! The CDNIS Monopoly game features a totem pole, maple leaf and even Timba as tokens. Choose your token, place it on GO! and roll the dice as you make your way around the board which features the amazing CDNIS facilities. Project Innovate Parents Coffee Morning

Parents learned the joys of robotics through our wonderful student teachers during the recent Project Innovate Coffee Morning. Take a moment to see the fun had by all in this short video. Make sure you join us for our next hands-on Project Innovate Coffee Morning Tuesday, December 5 when we will explore the new Science and Innovation Lab on the 12/F. US Elite Level College Admissions

We are always looking for opportunities to provide additional support and guidance to our students and parents as they navigate through the college admissions process. We are delighted to welcome to CDNIS in late November, Mr Jim Wickenden, former Princeton University Dean of Admission and founder of Wickenden Associates, and Ms Nancy Kanach, recently retired Senior Associate Dean/Director of International Programs of Princeton University.  For more information regarding this visit and opportunities to meet with Jim and Nancy, please click here​.

ASA Session 2 Registration

Get in on the action. Registration has already begun. Check out our new classes including photography, and Reception gymnastics! The CDNIS ASA Programme is open to both CDNIS and non-CDNIS students. Visit the ASA website for all the details. Registration via the Parent Portal will close on Wednesday, December 13.

Tickets Tickets Tickets

Just a handful of tickets are left for the Upper School's production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Performances run 2-hours and will be on Thursday, November 30 and Friday, December 1 at 7pm. Please note this show may not be suitable for Lower School students due to mature content. Get your $100 tickets on the LLAC website.

Upper School Winter Concert

The US Music Department is pleased to present Winter Concert, Friday, December 8, 7pm - 8:30pm. Featuring the musical talents of: Symphonic Winds, Wind Philharmonic, Game of Tones (a capella), Grade 8 Band and Stage Band. Shuttle bus service between Wong Chuk Hang MTR station and the school runs from 6pm to 7pm. Tickets are available at LLAC Box Office and from your music teachers.

Timberwolves: SEASAC Cross Country and Golf

Congratulations to our athletes and coaches who represented CDNIS at SEASAC in Singapore and Bangkok over the weekend. The Cross Country teams finished 5th and 6th in the relays while collecting a couple MVP honours along the way. While in Bangkok, our golfers combined to finish 5th and 10th overall. UNICEF Club Food Drive

The Upper School CDNIS UNICEF club is hosting a school-wide food drive this week from Monday, November 27, to Friday, December 1. All donations will go to Feeding Hong Kong, a Hong Kong-based NGO which distributes donated and surplus food to those in need. Drop-off points for donations can be found on the 9/F, 7/F (near the bus entrance), 5/F, 4/F and 3/F. Please click here for more information on what items are especially beneficial.

Mindfulness and Wellbeing Parent Morning

"Let's Talk About Mindfulness" a presentation on Tuesday, November 28 from 8am-9:30am in the LLAC by Cathy Ziengs MBSR Teacher, Mindfulness Facilitator. Learn why mindfulness concepts and practices are being introduced to enhance well-being for students and teachers, and how can parents engage too. Please wear something comfortable. RSVP here.

Winter Uniforms

A gentle reminder that as the weather begins to chill, students are expected to still be in full uniform. If they wear sweaters and jackets that are not CDNIS uniform in the morning, when they arrive, they are expected to keep them in their lockers/cubbies during the day.


School Uniforms - Time to Update

The CDNIS school uniform has gone through a few minor changes over the years and we will once again be looking to revamp the uniform ahead of the 2019/2020 school year.  The planned changes are based on input from relevant stakeholders and will continue to reflect the current identity of the school. Yearbook Cover Contest

Our Yearbook Club is holding a school-wide competition for Yearbook Cover 2018. The title this year is "Year of the Dog". YThere will be a prize for the winner! New Student Bus Passes

New bus passes for students who have paid for the school bus service will be issued this week and come into effect Monday, November 27. Passes will be distributed by homeroom teachers November 16 to 24. If your child takes the school bus but has not been given a new pass, please contact Tracia Yeung

CISPA - Home of Love Donations

Help make someone's Christmas a bit brighter this season by supporting Home of Love. Donations are being accepted under the 9/F Christmas tree until December 13. Home of Love cares for needy families in Hong Kong by providing free meals and shelter. Donations being received include basic items such as blankets, diapers, towels, toothpaste, soap and non-perishable foods such as rice, cereal, noodles, canned meats, cooking oil, powered milk, sugar, coffee and team.

CISPA - Mindfulness Sessions

All parents are invited to join in mindfulness sessions with Susan Hargreaves, which takes place weekly every Friday from 8:15am – 9:30am. Location is 21 Wong Chuk Hang Road, with onsite parking available. Please contact Lucia Delvita to sign up or get more information.

Lower School News

Lower School Student Leadership Workshop

We are excited to offer LEAP 2018, (Leadership, Education and Action Program) on January 30 and February 5. Grade 4-6 students (including those who participated last year) who want to develop their leadership skills and interact with our House NGOs should apply. Students can find application forms at 9/F Reception and the application deadline is December 1.

Upper School News

Internal University Deadlines

Just a quick reminder to students and parents that Friday, December 1 is the internal deadline for all university applications not yet submitted. The exceptions to this are Art & Design applications with a portfolio requirement and later deadline, and also Australian university applications.

Presentation on Applying to Select U.S. Universities

As part of the visit this week by consultants Jim Wickenden and Nancy Kanach, there will be an evening presentation on Tuesday, November 28 from 7pm-8:30pm in the LLAC Lobby on applying to highly selective U.S. universities. Attendance will be capped at 120. Gr 10: InterQuest Assessment Results and Feedback sessions

In October, all Grade 10 students sat the InterQuest inventory, which helps students explore their career interests and how they fit their natural aptitudes. US Guidance has received the reports and will hold general feedback sessions after school on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday after school, and Friday during lunch. Each G10 student should sign up and attend one of these sessions. 

St. George's University Info Session and Scholarship for Medicine Summer Course

St. George’s University offers a UK pathway as well as Grenada and USA pathways to becoming qualified Doctors and Veterinary Doctors. Visit their information session on Saturday, December 9 at the Admiralty Conference Centre at 2pm to learn more. During this session, students can take a scholarship test and high achievers can be awarded a Free Med-Vet Summer Course

British Council HE Fair

We are pleased to advise that the British Council will be hosting a Higher Education Fair at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Hall 5G, 1 Harbour Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong. The fair will be held on January 27-28 2018 from 1pm to 7pm. Registration is required and can be completed at this website.

Habitat for Humanity - Annual Build Trip

We leave next week for CDNIS Habitat’s annual build trip! The trip will take place from November 29 to December 3, allowing students aged 15+ the opportunity to build houses in the Philippines and make a difference for those living in substandard housing. Grade 7 and 8 HPE Swim unit starting this week

Grade 7 and 8 classes start their units of inquiry in the swimming pool this week. Grade 7 will be covering water safety and personal survival, whilst grade 8 will be continuing their invasion game theme with water polo. All students are required to wear swim caps during swimming lessons.
