The 2018 Alan Dick Community Blast
CDNIS has recognised Alan Dick and his contribution to the school every spring since 2010. This year the event will involve US kids visiting LS classrooms to enjoy a variety of activities. These will include watching a video about Alan, dancing his favorite Hokey Pokey Dance and learning a few others, and enjoying mini-cupcakes. A montage video will be shared widely among the CDNIS community after the event.
Monopoly Games Have Arrived
The CDNIS bespoke Monopoly games have arrived. They are available to be picked up at the 9/F office, and delivered to those who selected that option. When picking up your game, please provide the name and email address/phone number on the original order. Order your game today.
The Hong Kong French Theatre Festival
The Hong Kong French Theatre Festival will take place from March 7-10, with a special matinee for our French students on Friday, March 9 in the LLAC from 1pm-2:25pm. All are welcome! Tickets are available here for a small contribution of HK$50. All proceeds of the HKFTF will go to Pour un sourire d'enfant, a charity funded by two French retirees, Christian and Marie-France des Pallières.
CDNIS Students Enjoy Superb Switzerland Ski Trip
During CNY, 22 students and 4 teachers traveled to Crans Montana, Switzerland for the annual CDNIS Ski Week. This trip was an amazing experience; perfect conditions, skiers/snowboarders enjoying powder snow and spectacular views on some of the best slopes in the world. This trip is a fantastic way to inspire excellence, cultivate character, and empower engagement locally and globally, in a very cool environment. Check out the full report with photos here.
Splash Dash Swim-a-thon in the CDNIS Pool
Splash Dash, a Swim-a-thon fundraiser, is taking palce at CDNIS on Sunday, March 18. Splash is a non-profit organisation that leads swim/water safety courses for under-served communities who may not have the access or means for swim lessons. CDNIS College Clinic
The CDNIS US Guidance Team are offering a College Clinic every Tuesday and Thursday from 3pm-5pm for any member of the CDNIS Community. For more information, please contact Rob Aldridge or Scott Atherton in the US Guidance Office. All consultations will be confidential and offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
Sick Students - Please Stay Home
Please do not send your child to school if they are feeling unwell, especially if their temperature is 37.5C or higher, or if they have a cough, runny nose, diarrhea or rash. As recommended by the CHP, Department of Health, we strongly advise parents to check their child's temperature before going to school. Please remember to email the school nurse if your child does not come to school because they are ill. Many thanks for helping us maintain a safe and healthy environment at CDNIS.
Project Innovate Parents Coffee Morning
Join us for our last Project Innovate Parents Coffee Morning on Tuesday, March 20 for a hands-on maker experience around the theme "building resilience in your child with hands-on learning". Details including RSVP will be in next week's Flash.

Tuition Fee Deposit for 2018/2019 School Year
The tuition fee deposit for 2018/19 is due for all returning students on March 22, 2018. Invoices will be posted to the Parent Portal under NetClassroom>Billing starting March 1, 2018. To secure your seats, all returning students must pay a deposit of HK$20,000. Please check your Parent Portal account for more information. Any inquiries can be directed to our Accounts Department.
ASA Survey and Tender information for Football and Gymnastics
ASA Gymnastics and ASA Football are our most popular Afterschool Activities; 500 students enjoy these activities. We’re always striving to improve our fantastic ASA experiences, please complete these surveys if you have an interest in ASA Gymnastics or ASA Football. As part of our three-year review, we’re inviting expressions of interest from providers of ASA Gymnastics/ASA Football. Contact James Lovegrove if you would like to recommend a provider.
Spring Break Holiday
Just a reminder - Thursday, March 29 is a regular day, so students will be dismissed at their normal time. Please note the holiday period runs March 30-April 8 for students, with classes resuming Monday, April 9.
IB Art Grad Exhibition
The annual IB DP Art grad exhibition, Odyssey, opens Tuesday, April 10 in the LLAC. Come and view the amazing works our incredibly talented Grade 12 students have created over the past two years. You will see sculpture, painting, photography, video, drawing, animation and much more. It is always a standout event on the school calendar, so don't miss out!
Parent Liaison Committee
This is the third year since the Board of Governors has re-established the Parent Liaison Committee (PLC). The PLC is a multi-stakeholder Committee, comprised of Governors, Parents, and School Administrators. The PLC serves as a communication channel between parents and the Board of Governors. Fire Alarm Procedures
Do you know what to do if the fire alarm rings? If you are in the 6/F cafeteria or perhaps enjoying a latte at the Maple Cafe, the evacuation route for parents and others is to go across the pitch towards the LLAC. From there, turn left up the stairs and follow the signs out to Nam Long Shan. If you have any questions, email the Health and Safety team.
Ordering School Lunch
The February to April lunch order form and menus (March and April) are available on the main school website, in School Brochures. Parents can order meals by filling out the form and dropping it off, with payment, in the 6/F Cafeteria or by mail to CDNIS. Any questions can be directed to Maxim's via email or by calling 2240 6052.
CISPA - Annual General Meeting
CISPA Annual General Meeting and Nominations – CISPA’s Annual General Meeting will take place on Monday, March 12 at 8am in the LLAC Lobby. We encourage all parents to join us for the AGM as members will receive reports of the Board and the auditors, consider CISPA’s accounts, and participate in an election, if required. Please, read on the CISPA website about the current board members and their responsibilities.
CISPA - Book Swaps
CISPA Book Swaps are back this month! Bring in your old books to trade for another. The Upper School book swap will be on Tuesday, March 13 during the lunch period. Lower School Pre Reception to Grade 2 will be on Tuesday, March 20 and Lower School Grade 3 to 6 on Thursday March 22 from 7:15am to 8:30am. Contact Christina Matula-hakli to volunteer.
CISPA - Lost Property on Display
Lost and found un-named items shall be on display on the 9/F Lobby on Friday, March 9 from 7:15am to 12:30pm. Thereafter, they shall be placed in the Lost Property cupboard except for wet swim items – for hygiene reasons, these cannot be kept in storage and will be donated to charity or otherwise disposed of. All un-claimed Lost Property on March 31 shall be donated to charity or otherwise disposed of.
