iHOS Email to Parents

Last week, iHOS David Baird reached out to parents to share some of the exciting things he has observed around the school, as well as announce several new initiatives including details surrounding the school bus provider, Project Innovate, summer renovations and a parent coffee morning (which happens today). In case you missed his message in your @ CDNIS parent email account, you can find his note right here.

Urgent: Deadline March 22 to Re-enroll for 2017/2018

Parents have until March 22, 2017 to reserve their child's space for the upcoming 2017/2018 school year. The goal of re-enrollment is simply to protect the seats of current students who want to return in 2017/2018, and to predict the number of seats we can offer to waiting applicants. If you know you will be leaving at the end of this school year, we are sorry to see your family go. The tuition fee deposit for 2017/18 is due for all returning students on March 22, 2017. Invoices have been posted to the Parent Portal under NetClassroom>Billing. To secure your seats, all returning students must pay a deposit of HK$20,000. Please check your Parent Portal account for more information. Tuition deposits are fully refundable by official written notice given before May 8, 2017. Any inquiries can be directed to our Accounts Department.

Chess Club Championships!

CDNIS were recently crowned champions at the ISF international school chess tournament. Congratulations to Grade 12 students Keith, Steven, Sam, and Arsen, along with Henry (Grade 8), Sean and Woody (Grade 7) who did CDNIS proud. From a field of 21 schools, the CDNIS team won first place in the secondary section of the tournament. This was an improvement over last year's 3rd place finish. The beautiful trophy is currently on display in the 9/F office with the rest of our CDNIS trophies. Great job!

Reaching Out, Touching Lives

The foundation of any successful school is the close bond shared between students and teachers. With their commitment of learning from one another and a passion for making a difference, the CDNIS family is achieving excellence all around the world! This week, we celebrate the many musical talents within our community, who recently performed at the Morgan Lam's Hope Through Music Concert. To learn more, check out this article and watch this video.

IB/CIS/WASC Accreditation Self-Study Committees

Thank you to the parents who have signed up for the IB/CIS/WASC Self-Study committees. While it is important to attend as many of the committee meetings as possible, we would like to encourage all interested parents to sign up on the form here by Wednesday, March 22. If you cannot attend on April 18 but are still interested in joining a specific committee please email Jon Adams. Please see the letter sent out last week for more information and if you have any questions about the IB/CIS/WASC committees, please contact Jon Adams.

School Bus 2017/2018 School Year

As David Baird mentioned in his email to parents last week, Sun Bus will be the school's bus provider starting in August 2017. Sun Bus will not increase bus fares for the coming school year, they expect to operate the same routes/timings and are working to obtain the proper license to operate a circular service between the school and Wong Chuk Hang MTR station. As in years past, and to help Sun Bus properly plan for the required service and routes, we will be asking families to register their children for the school bus service before June 30, 2017. If you have any questions about the new service provider or bus schedule/timings, please let us know via this CDNIS School Bus Service Form before March 24, 2017. The school will share your questions with Sun Bus later this month.

Parents in School: Requests from the Administration Team

However, there are a few things that we would like parents to please keep in mind, so as to not disrupt the learning going on during the day. Please click here to learn more and feel free to contact a Lower School Principal with questions.

Attention Lower School Parents: Fifth Disease

A number of Lower School students have recently been diagnosed with Fifth Disease. A common childhoold viral infaction, Fifth Disease is typically known as "Slapped Cheek Syndrome" due to the distinctive red rash that it appears on the face. Early symptoms also include low-grade fever, headache and mild cold-like symptoms. CDNIS encourages parents to be aware of the symptoms of Fifth Disease and to be watchful at home. We are monitoring the situation closely, and being proactive with extra disinfecting and cleaning in the school to reduce all risk of further cases. For more information, please contact the Lower School nurse, Gloria Ng.
