Reaching Out, Touching Lives

The foundation of any successful school is the close bond shared between students and teachers. With their commitment of learning from one another and a passion for making a difference, the CDNIS family is achieving excellence all around the world! This week, we're highlighting some the fun activities and events that CDNIS students can look forward to during the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations.

Students To Remain At Home When Ill

In view of the current cool weather in Hong Kong, we have noticed an increase in the number of ill students coming to school. To safeguard health of our school community, please do not send your child to school if they are feeling unwell, especially if their temperature is 37.5 C or higher, or if they have cough, runny nose, diarrhea or rash. Many thanks for helping us maintain a safe and healthy environment at CDNIS.

SCOPE

We at SCOPE would like to welcome all students! The latest SCOPE bulletin includes short stories, visual art, creative non-fiction and music album recommendations by our Upper School students. Check out the latest issue right here.

CNY Festivities

Celebrate with us as we welcome in the Year of the Rooster. Parents are welcome to attend our CNY Concert Dress Rehearsals (January 24 at 2:45-3:45pm). Please note the CISPA calendar incorrectly marked this day as an Early Dismissal Day - January 26 is not an EDD. The holiday period runs January 27-February 6 for students, with classes resuming Tuesday, February 7. Gong Xi Fa Cai!

The paper ordering for January meals is open until January 26. You may also order meals for a few months or a whole year. Please contact Maxim's directly for more information.

Reminder to LS Parents; respecting our hallways as learning spaces

We have noted an increase of parents coming to meet their children at classroom at the end of the day, particularly on the 10/F, as opposed to waiting to meet as requested on the 9/F. Please bear in mind that we use our hallways for various purposes with students, and also to avoid congestion parents are requested to await their children at the 9/F foyer. Thank you for your understanding.

Visiting Students

Please note that if a former student wishes to visit CDNIS, permission from the Vice Principal must first be secured. Visitors can only come during lunch or after school and must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Students cannot stay for the day while classes are in session.

Grade 11 Parent Night - Postponed

Rather than run two separate Grade 11 Parent events, we are cancelling the event originally scheduled for January 17. We will instead share those announcements with parents at the upcoming Grade 11 University Information Night (February 16 at 6:45pm).

New Name for CAS Week

The students and staff have spoken and the new name for "CAS Week" is "Experience Week". For those of you who have been associated with the school for a while, you have likely noted that "Experience Week" was the old name of this week. While creativity, activity and service will still be the focus of the trips, the new name better captures the spirit and intent of these experiential learning opportunities.

University Visits

The following universities are visiting CDNIS this week. All visits are in the Guidance office: Tuesday, January 17: St. Leo's College, University of Queensland (2:30pm); Thursday, January 19: National University of Singapore (12:15pm); Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland (2:30pm); Friday, January 20: University of California at Santa Barbara (12:15pm); Ritsumeikan University, Kyoto, Japan (12:15pm); Royal Veterinary College, Univiversity of London (2:30pm).
