Sick Students - Please Stay Home

Please do not send your child to school if they are feeling unwell, especially if their temperature is 37.5C or higher, or if they have a cough, runny nose, diarrhea or rash. As recommended by the CHP, Department of Health, we strongly advise parents to check their child's temperature before going to school. Please remember to email the school nurse if your child does not come to school because they are ill. Many thanks for helping us maintain a safe and healthy environment at CDNIS.

CNY Festivities

We are busy preparing to welcome the Year of the Dog. Celebrate with us! Parents are welcome to attend our CNY Concert Dress Rehearsals on Friday, February 9. Everyone is encouraged to participate in our DDD February 12-14 for the LS and Wednesday, February 14 for the US. And you don't want to miss the CISPA CNY Flower Fair on Tuesday, February 13. Lunar New Year Holiday - No EDD

Just a reminder - Wednesday, February 14 is a regular day, so students will be dismissed at their normal time. Please note the holiday period runs February 15-February 26 for students, with classes resuming Tuesday, February 27. Kung Hei Fat Choy!

Season 3/4 Sports Tryouts

Season 3/4 Sports include; Softball (US), Track & Field (LS & US), Badminton U12/14/16/20, Dragon Boating (US), Rugby (U12 and U14), Soccer (U12 and U20), Touch Rugby (U12/U14/U20), Netball (U13 and U14), Gymnastics (Senior and Junior), Swimming (SEASAC), Ultimate Frisbee (US) and Basketball (U10). Season 3/4 tryout and practice details for Upper School can be found here, and Lower School here, with a summary here.

Class of 2018: Offers to Universities

Delivery Of Monopoly Games

The CDNIS bespoke Monopoly games are being transported to Hong Kong. The merchandise team aims to distribute them as soon as they arrive. The games will be available to be picked up at the 9/F office, and delivered to those who selected that option. When picking up your game, please provide the name and email address/phone number on the original order. Email confirmations will be sent when the games are ready. Order your game today.

Fire Alarm Procedures

Do you know what to do if the fire alarm rings? If you are in the 6/F cafeteria or perhaps enjoying a latte at the Maple Cafe, the evacuation route for parents and others is to go across the pitch towards the LLAC. From there, turn left up the stairs and follow the signs out to Nam Long Shan. If you have any questions, email the Health and Safety team

CISPA - Volunteer for the Chinese New Year Flower Fair

We will welcome in the Year of the Dog at the annual Chinese New Year Flower Fair, which will be held on Tuesday, February 13. We need volunteers to help with games, food stalls, flower/plants and merchandise sales. Please sign up here. Questions? Please contact Amy Ng or Anita Shum.


CISPA - Pre-CNY Lunch at The China Club

Parents are invited to join for a social lunch at The China Club in Central on Thursday, February 8. The China Club is situated in the Bank of China Building on Bank Street next to the HSBC head office. Approximate cost should be around HK$250-HK$300 per person for food. CISPA - Ballroom Dancing Classes for Parents

Please join CISPA dance beginners this Friday, February 9 for a group class. It will be great fun and a healthy activity! This time the class will be held in a different dance studio: DanzStage, 2001 - 2002, 148 Electric Road, Tin Hau, from 9:15pm-11pm.

LS Coffee Morning

The next LS coffee morning will take place on Thursday, February 8 in the LLAC lobby from 8am-9:30am. As parents, we want the best for our child, to rush to help, soothe and fix, it’s only natural. In this talk, Dr. Minna Chau will share her insight and research findings on how a certain kind of devotion to happiness creed hurts in long run. Grade 5 Wearable Art Fashion Show Yes Talent

Grade 5 students are putting on CDNIS' first wearable art fashion show for a cause as a part of their four week Artist in Residence programme, with a group of Fashion & Architecture graduates from HKU, PolyU and CUHK. YES Talent will take place on Friday, February 9 from 1pm-2pm in the LLAC lobby. $50 tickets, with proceeds to kids4kids, are available at the 9/F office.

Grade 6 Parent Info Night

All current Grade 6 Parents are invited to join us for an information session focused on the transition from Grade 6 to Grade 7, on Tuesday, February 13 from 6:45pm-8pm in the LLAC Lobby. Please learn about the bus service and RSVP using this link.


Grade 6 PYP Exhibition Information Workshop

Please come and join Susie Heinrich and Viv Wallace to find out what the PYP Exhibition is all about, how groups are chosen, what students will be inquiring into, what the action involves and how you can help. This session takes place on Friday, February 9 from 8am-9am in the Library Pit. Please RSVP at this link.

CNY ASA Holiday Programme

Celebrate the Year of the Dog at CDNIS from Wednesday, February 21 to Friday, February 23! Send your puppies over to enjoy football, gymnastics or Zones of Regulation with CDNIS guidance counsellor Shelly Chutke. Grade 4-6 Easter Hainan Exchange Programme

Registration is now open for the Grade 4-6 Easter Hainan Exchange Programme, organised by the LS Chinese Department. It runs from Saturday, March 31 to Sunday, April 8. The enrollment deadline is Friday, March 9. Please contact Yvette Wu for more details.

CISPA - Buy Your Child's Tokens for the Chinese New Year Flower Fair

Avoid lining up to buy tokens at the Chinese New Year Flower Fair. The pre-sales for tokens are now available at the CISPA website to purchase with PayPal or your credit card. We will distribute the tokens to your child/children the day before the fair in class.

University of Cambridge staff have agreed to return this summer to run more summer school programmes. For more information, including course details and how to sign up, please visit the programme website. Registration is open now and filling up fast!

Grade 11 Parent Information Night

US Guidance will hold an information evening for parents of Grade 11 students on Tuesday, February 6. The talk will begin at 6:45pm, with refreshments being served from 6pm. We will be explaining the university application process, including upcoming deadlines, as we work with Grade 11 students beginning the process. Kindly RSVP for both the information evening and return bus service at this link.

4th Annual AYSEA Business Case Competition Success

Congratulations to US students David , Rosslyn, Sara and Andrew, who put together an innovative solution to Fiji's water declining product problem in the competition. The team impressed judges and competitors alike with their strategic plan, presentation skills and most importantly, confidence.

Pathway to HKU

Parents and students are invited to the Pathway to HKU event on Wednesday, February 21. Learn about programs and requirements through Admissions Talks, Faculty Info Sessions and Consultation Sessions. There will also be faculty information booths and campus tours where students can learn more about the campus and faculties. For more information, click here.

Grade 7 & 8 Lunch Portion Options

In an effort to reduce food waste, students in Grades 7 and 8 will have the option to purchase a smaller portion of menu items for $20, or to buy the full-size portions for the standard price. This option will begin on Monday, February 5.

Study Skills Presentation for Grade 9

Elevate Education will be presenting a workshop on time management to all Grade 9 students on Monday, February 5. Topics will include developing study routines, using study time efficiently, forming effective study groups, and overcoming procrastination.

SAT registration deadline for March 10 test date

The deadline for registering for the Saturday, March 10 SAT test is Friday, February 9. Students wishing to sit the test may register here.
