CNY Festivities

Due to the suspension of classes in the Lower School, some Chinese New Year festivities have been postponed. The CNY Flower Fair and LS CNY concerts will now take place on Friday, March 2All the details can be found right here.

Lunar New Year Holiday - No EDD

Just a reminder - Wednesday, February 14 is a regular day, so Upper School students will be dismissed at their normal time. Please note the holiday period runs February 15-February 26 for students, with classes resuming Tuesday, February 27. Kung Hei Fat Choy!

Monopoly Games Have Arrived

The CDNIS bespoke Monopoly games have arrived. They are available to be picked up at the 9/F office, and delivered to those who selected that option. When picking up your game, please provide the name and email address/phone number on the original order. Order your game today.

New "Stories" about Taking Action @ CDNIS

These latest stories highlight how students at CDNIS are creatively taking action: from supporting refugees' soap-making business and writing about it in the New York Times essay contest, to doing a keynote as a marine environmental activist at the international "Ocean Summit" to organizing donation drives and food sales to support those in need around HK! Browse through all the experiences on our "Stories" page of the Taking Action website!

Class of 2018: Offers to Universities

The 2018 Alan Dick Community Blast

CDNIS has recognised Alan Dick and his contribution to the school every spring since 2010. This year the event will involve US kids visiting LS classrooms to enjoy a variety of activities. These will include watching a video about Alan, dancing his favorite Hokey Pokey Dance and learning a few others, and enjoying mini-cupcakes. A montage video will be shared widely among the CDNIS community after the event.

Fire Alarm Procedures

Do you know what to do if the fire alarm rings? If you are in the 6/F cafeteria or perhaps enjoying a latte at the Maple Cafe, the evacuation route for parents and others is to go across the pitch towards the LLAC. From there, turn left up the stairs and follow the signs out to Nam Long Shan. If you have any questions, email the Health and Safety team

Sick Students - Please Stay Home

Please do not send your child to school if they are feeling unwell, especially if their temperature is 37.5C or higher, or if they have a cough, runny nose, diarrhea or rash. As recommended by the CHP, Department of Health, we strongly advise parents to check their child's temperature before going to school. Please remember to email the school nurse if your child does not come to school because they are ill. Many thanks for helping us maintain a safe and healthy environment at CDNIS.

CISPA - Rescheduled Chinese New Year Flower Fair

Our Chinese New Year Flower Fair for the Lower School has been postponed to Friday, March 2. However, the Upper School will proceed with their activities as planned on Tuesday, February 13.

CISPA - Annual General Meeting

CISPA Annual General Meeting and Nominations – CISPA’s Annual General Meeting will take place on Monday, March 12 at 8am in the LLAC Lobby. We encourage all parents to join us for the AGM as members will receive reports of the Board and the auditors, consider CISPA’s accounts, and participate in an election, if required. Please, read on the CISPA website about the current board members and their responsibilities.

Grade 6 Parent Info Night

All current Grade 6 Parents are invited to join us for an information session focused on the transition from Grade 6 to Grade 7, on Tuesday, February 13 from 6:45pm-8pm in the LLAC Lobby. Please learn about the bus service and RSVP using this link.


Grade 4-6 Easter Hainan Exchange Programme

Registration is now open for the Grade 4-6 Easter Hainan Exchange Programme, organised by the LS Chinese Department. It runs from Saturday, March 31 to Sunday, April 8. The enrollment deadline is Friday, March 9. Please contact Yvette Wu for more details.

Upper School Report Cards

Report cards for all students in Grades 7-12 will be available through the Parent Portal from the afternoon of Tuesday, February 13.  Please mark your calendar for Parent-Teacher-Student Discussions on Wednesday and Thursday, March 7-8.

Visa Letters for Grade 7 & 8 Experience Week

If your child needs a visa for their Grade 7 & 8 Experience Week trip, you were contacted via email by Veronica Tse. The visa letters required by the embassies have been sent to students. You can double check to see if your child needs a visa on this site or on the embassy website directly. Visas on arrival are not permitted on EW trips. If you think your child needs a visa but has not received a visa letter, please contact Rachel Kirchner or Veronique Nobert

Stage Band and Symphonic Winds Performances

Stage Band will be performing at Ocean Park on Saturday, March 3 at 10am. The show will be near the entrance and 30 minutes long. Symphonic Winds will be playing at Hong Kong City Hall on Saturday, March 24. The Concert will start at 7:30pm. Please contact Ms. Jessy Po if you would like tickets. 

Personal Project Exhibition

The Personal Project Exhibition will be on Thursday, March 1 from 6pm-8pm. All Grade 9 and 10 families are encouraged to attend. There will be a bus service from Admiralty and Wong Chuk Hang MTR stations at 5:30pm and 5:50pm respectively as well as return service departing CDNIS at 8:15pm to those same destinations as well as Causeway Bay (Morrison Hill Rd.) and Central Ferry Piers.

Cambridge Summer School

If your child 15-18 is free this summer the the Cambridge Summer School may be an excellent option. For more information, including course details and how to sign up, please visit the programme website. Registration is open now and filling up fast!

Pathway to HKU

Parents and students are invited to the Pathway to HKU event on Wednesday, February 21. Learn about programmes and requirements through Admissions Talks, Faculty Info Sessions and Consultation Sessions. There will also be faculty information booths and campus tours where students can learn more about the campus and faculties. For more information, click here.

For those who wish to receive news, updates and articles related to university admission and social emotional management then the Guidance Office invites you to "like" their Facebook page.

Grade 7 & 8 Lunch Portion Options

In an effort to reduce food waste, students in Grades 7 and 8 will have the option to purchase a smaller portion of menu items for $20, or to buy the full-size portions for the standard price. This option began on Monday, February 5.
